Challenging the EU’s Digital Services Act, Amazon loses the lawsuit

Earlier, the EU restricted Amazon’s online advertising business operations in accordance with the provisions of the Digital Services Act (DSA), and Amazon then requested that the EU suspend its actions, but the latest ruling of the EU’s highest court found Amazon to be in the wrong.

Under the DSA that came into effect in the EU last year, Amazon was found to be a very large online platform and was required to strictly fulfill its responsibilities in supervising content and preventing harmful messages. Amazon then appealed to the EU court to challenge the requirements of the DSA.

The lower arbitration tribunal of the EU issued an order in September last year, supporting Amazon’s relevant application, allowing Amazon to be temporarily exempt from the impact of EU laws. The EU then appealed, and the highest court in the region rejected Amazon’s appeal and restored the instruction that Amazon must fulfill its responsibilities.

The judicial court pointed out that the interests of the EU are prioritized over those of Amazon.
