The highest-spec flagship store of Apple located in Jing’an District, Shanghai, opened today. CEO Cook (Tim Cook) took the lead to appear in Shanghai yesterday. According to the video posted by Cook’s official Weibo, he walked across a bridge in the Bund with the actor Zheng Kai from the mainland variety show “Running Man” and then went to the restaurant to taste xiaolongbao. This post also used the Shanghai dialect “nonghao” to greet the public, and after it was posted, it was viewed 500,000 times in just a few minutes.
Apple CEO Tim Cook posted on his Chinese Weibo account on Wednesday that he is currently visiting Shanghai. Cook did not disclose whether he would go to Beijing. Cook has previously been condemned for not reporting that the sales of Apple phones in China are under downward pressure due to the economy and competition, resulting in investors maintaining their investments but suffering losses.
Reuters said Cook’s visit came after the iPhone maker announced it would open a new retail store in the heart of the Chinese financial center on Thursday, as Apple copes with declining iPhone sales in China and increasing competition from domestic rivals such as Huawei.
Last year, Cook visited China at least twice, and China is Apple’s third-largest market by revenue. Last year, he also went to Beijing, visited an Apple store, and attended the China Development Forum.
