Tim Cook, the CEO of tech giant Apple, said on April 16 that he hopes to further increase investment in Vietnam.
It is worth noting that Vietnam has become more important for Apple as the company seeks to “diversify” its supply chain.
Cook said: “Vietnam is a dynamic and beautiful country, and there is no place like Vietnam.”
He added that since 2019, Apple’s annual spending in Vietnam has doubled.
Cook arrived in Hanoi on Monday for a two-day visit during which he met with students, programmers, and content creators. Apple has been doing business locally for more than a decade and said it has created more than 200,000 jobs locally.
According to the 2022 list, Apple has 26 suppliers and 28 factories in Vietnam. Most of them are located in the northern provinces, where it is easy to connect to the existing supply chain in southern China.
Historically, the northern part of Vietnam is also an electronic product manufacturing center with cheap and skilled labor.
In addition to Vietnam, Apple also plans to transfer its production to India. According to the news of Social Platform X, Apple’s move to transfer to India is too fast. The output of iPhones in India in 2023 has doubled, accounting for 14%. It is estimated that it can be increased to at least 25% in 2024, and it will basically be transferred after another three years.
