Google is reportedly planning to charge a service fee to AI users

The Financial Times cited sources as saying that Google is considering charging a service fee to users of its search engine equipped with generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools.

After the news was revealed, the share price of Google’s parent company, Alphabet, fell by 1% in the extended trading session after the market.

According to the report, Google is considering different fee schemes, including allowing only paid premium users to use the Gemini AI feature.

Currently, Google allows Gmail and Docs users to use the search engine with AI features for free.

Google responded by saying that it is committed to providing quality services to customers.
