According to Bloomberg, insiders revealed that Apple is in talks with Google to build Google’s Gemini artificial intelligence engine into the iPhone, laying the foundation for a blockbuster agreement that will shock the AI industry.
Insiders said the two companies are actively negotiating to allow Google’s set of generative AI model Gemini to power some new features in Apple’s iPhone software this year. Due to the private nature of the discussions, the insiders requested anonymity.
It is also reported that Apple has recently held discussions with OpenAI and is considering using its model.
However, as IT Home previously reported, Apple is also researching its own AI large model. Apple’s research team recently published a paper titled “MM1: Methods, Analysis & Insights from Multimodal LLM Pre-training” in ArXiv, which introduces a “MM1” multimodal large model that provides three parameter scales of 3 billion, 7 billion, and 30 billion, with image recognition and natural language inference capabilities.
Apple acquired DarwinAI earlier this year to further expand its strength in the field of AI.
