The sales of iPhones in the first quarter in China dropped by 19%.

Research institution Counterpoint Research data shows that the sales of iPhones of Apple in the Chinese market in the first quarter of this year dropped by 19.1%, which is the worst sales performance of iPhones in the local area since the outbreak of the epidemic in 2020; as for the sales of its competitor Huawei increased by 69.1%.

In the first quarter of this year, Apple’s share in the Chinese smart phone market decreased from 19.7% in the same period last year to 15.7%, and its market share dropped to the third place, behind vivo’s 17.4% and Honor’s 16.1%.

During the period, the overall growth of the Chinese market was about 1.5%, mainly driven by local brands. Huawei’s market share has increased significantly from 9.3% in the same period last year to 15.5%, and it is ranked fourth in terms of market share. As for Xiaomi (01810), it is ranked sixth, and its market share has increased from 13.6% in the same period last year to 14.6%.
